Guide and worked example

Convert older Chinese CSV or text into Unicode text readable by other applications. Keep the original and select its actual encoding.

  1. Select text; try GB18030 / GBK for older Chinese CSV exports.
  2. Choose UTF-8, BOM and line endings, or UTF-16LE, for the destination application.
  3. Convert, inspect the preview, download and reopen in the destination application.

Worked example

For UTF-8 text with header id,name and row 001,Example, UTF-16LE output includes a BOM and preserves 001. Conversion does not parse CSV fields as numbers.

Limitations and checks

Up to 5 MiB, text only. No encoding guessing, GBK output, repair of existing corruption, or PDF/Word/XLSX conversion. Preview is limited to 10000 characters.

Why is converted text still garbled?

A wrong encoding can decode successfully. Select the actual source encoding or export again if the original is corrupted.
